With the Joker being in charge, the story sets up a unique atmosphere, that has rarely been explored in any video game that I can think of. Batman, now trapped, is stuck on the island with convicts, crazy people, and several deranged villains that all want him dead. With the help of his ditsy side-kick, Harley Quinn, the Joker now has control of the Asylum. Just as everything seems to be fine and Joker is being put in his cell, crap hits the fan, and the Joker gets free. Batman, sensing something is off, decides to go along for the ride, to make sure Joker doesn't have anything up his sleeves. Shortly after being captured for at least the hundredth time, Joker is taken to Arkham Island once again. This time however, Joker isn't alone, as there are plenty of classic villains that are there to join the party. Joker is up to his old tricks again, and as usual Batman is there to stop him.

They got many members of the Batman: The Animated Series casting to do the voice acting - including Mark Hamill to be the Joker. The animation on the characters is top notch - down to the Joker's crazy smile and Scarecrow's hood.ĥ. Everything at Arkham is gritty, surreal and crazy at once. In a lot of ways, they remind me of both Batman: The Animated Series and Tim Burton's Batman movies. The graphics for this game are beautiful - slick, dark and brutal. A lot of the puzzles you will be solving involve getting past locked doors through air ducts or sewers or even using your grapple hook to swing you to the top of the buildingĤ. The world allows you to make use of different strategies in most combat situations, while still occasionally requiring you to get out your Bat-Brain and think through puzzles. Each boss you encounter will require different strategies and skills to beat and it will feel like a completely different experience from the rest of the game. No two boss encounters are the same - and I really mean that. On top of this, you have different gadgets and abilities, such as glide attacks and explosive gel that can be used to take down walls and knock out opponents.ģ. If you haven't experienced it yet, download the demo. It's an incredibly flowing combat system. Batman will automatically do moves specific to the situation - he'll charge if he's too far away, do an uppercut while he's coming up from a crouch, etc. Combat is incredibly intuitive - just push the stick in the direction of who you want to beat down and hit the attack buttons. Finally, as you play you can unlock extra content by finding the Riddler's stuff, including brief bios on the characters and (what I found incredibly delightful) audio interviews with certain inmates of the asylum.Ģ. In addition, Batman's encounters with each villain are unique, including some really disturbing stuff when Scarecrow comes around. Plus, as you progress you find out more and more about the Joker's plot and what he's really up to.
Each and every stage of the game features cut scenes as part of the set up and you get to see Batman interacting with characters in the game.
Now while I realize that sounds like I'm being all fan girl about everything, let me give my reasons (in no particular order):ġ. But I think it's jumping the gun to make that assumption at this point.So what's the best thing about Batman: Arkham Asylum? The beautiful cut scenes? The intuitive and almost too-fun combat system? The explosive gel you get a little ways into the game? The detective mode?Įverything. You may be right: even if it is possible at this point, it may also be true that nobody with the necessary skills will ever have enough interest in this exclusionary content to check about getting it to work on PC. So I'm guessing that it's not simply a lack of interest that has kept anything from happening, but the fact that it has actually been impossible until recently, and may still be impossible now.

I believe that was pulled from the PC showcase for the 1960s Batmobile, which happened to include a model of an Adam West-skinned Batman standing next to it.

The Adam West skin didn't come from PS4 files. If I understand correctly, there would not have been much of an opportunity for anyone to look into it yet. They did for the Adam West PS4 exclusive stuff.Īctually, I believe that, as far as it would concern Arkham Knight, this has been the case for only a few months at most.

The PS4 has been cracked for awhile, if there was any interest someone would've extracted the files and released them. I check pretty much every day to see if someone's managed to get Scarecrow Nightmare Missions working on PC. The game had too much of that to begin with.
